<biogHist>
<abstract>Kenneth Starr was a surgeon who held senior positions in several of Sydney's leading hospitals. His service with the Australian Imperial Forces during WWII included deployments in North Africa and Borneo, and posting as officer commanding, surgery division, 113th A.G.H., Sydney where he set up a facial maxillary and plastic surgery unit. Starr was active in professional organisations, being President of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons from 1964 to 1966. He acted in advisory roles for the New South Wales and Australian Governments, being Chairman of the committee that recommended the establishment of a new medical school at the New South Wales University of Technology.</abstract>
