He was closely associated with the Royal Hobart Hospital and for over ten years was Director of Orthopaedic Services for the Department of Health, Tasmania. His interests included treatment and after-care for poliomyelitis patients and for tuberculosis patients. In 1964 Parker was President of the Australian Orthopaedic Association.
