During this time he instituted many changes in the way in which pharmacy was taught by introducing evening and correspondence classes for apprentices, restructuring the curriculum and extending the course to four years. By the late 1930s this course was considered the model for Australian and New Zealand. Sissons wrote on the history of pharmacy in Victoria in the Australian Journal of Pharmacy of which he also served as editor.
