Robert Patten was a veterinarian best known for his 19 years as Curator of the Taronga Zoological Park in Sydney. Here he treated a wide variety of animals for all conditions, with his greatest concern being the careful planning of the diets of over 7,000 animals. Between 1947 and 1954 he was a panellist on the wildlife program "Nature speaks" on commercial radio. Following his retirement from the Zoo in 1954 he continued in private practice.
