In addition he initiated programs on the role of rabbits in life cycle of parasitic fauna of Australian native animals and on the introduction of helminth parasites to augment rabbit control. Spratt provided diagnostic assistance to medical and veterinary clinicians, and biologists which proved a rich source of new taxonomic and zoonotic knowledge. He built up fully-documented and electronically databased collection of parasites which was the basis for his own studies but also useful to colleagues nationally and internationally.
