In 1935 he formed a consulting engineering partnership 'Haskins and Davey' in Sydney with Gerald Haskins, and in 1939 joined with Gordon Gutteridge to form 'Gutteridge Haskins and Davey'. Davey is also noted for pioneering the manufacture of concrete roofing tiles in Queensland. His firm was a founding member of the Association of Consulting Engineers Australia in 1952, and he was President 1956-1957. He also served on the council of the Institution of Engineers, Australia, and was its representative on the National Capital Development Commission.
