He became an associate and then a fellow of the Institute of Chemistry of Great Britain and Ireland in from 1900-1903. In 1901 he joined Cadbury Bros as its first analytical chemist. Booth's research was significant for the development of the company's iconic chocolate. In 1924, he was the chief chemist of one of the company's large research laboratories and became the chairman and managing director of Cadbury-Fry-Pascall Ltd based at Claremont, Tasmania.
