<biogHist>
<abstract>Dame Bridget Ogilvie obtained her PhD from the University of Cambridge, England, in 1964. Ogilvie was appointed as a Wellcome Animal Health Trust fellow from 1963 to 1966 and subsequently as member of the scientific staff, staying with the Wellcome Trust for 20 years. Ogilvie was a trustee of the National Museum of Science and industry from 1992 to 2003. She was on the UK Council for Science and Industry from 1993 to 2000. After leaving the Wellcome Trust, she was a part of various committees and advisory boards such as the Association of British Science Writers and the Association of Medical Research Charities, the Committee on the Public Understanding of Science, and the AsytaZeneca Science Teaching Trust. Ogilvie has received numerous awards and honours for the contributions she has made to medical research and science, this includes 24 honorary doctorates.</abstract>
