She then worked as a research fellow at the University of Melbourne in the Particulate Fluid Processing Centre (on a project that involved alumina industry tailings) at the Ian Wark Research Institute at the University of South Australia (where she researched colloid and interface science). Dr Bremmell has studied the interaction between particles and what effects various molecules have in the suspension of particles. Her research into the processing of ores and tailings treatment is relevant the minerals industry.
