Ronald Cape was an internationally renowned geriatrician who made significant contributions to the field of aged care, by proposing new approaches and encouraging a broader understanding of the conditions of geriatric patients. His textbook <span style="font-style:italic">Aging: Its Complex Management</span>, published in 1978, was at the vanguard of a new school of thought in the way geriatric medicine was taught. He held various positions in education and research including Professor and Chief of Geriatric Medicine at the University of Western Ontario (1975-1986) and Director of Melbourne University's Institute for Geriatric Medicine and Gerontology (1986-1988).
