<abstract>Raleigh Adelbert Black worked for the Tasmanian Council of Agriculture and though it was not his professional occupation, was an avid collector of plants. During his lifetime his personal herbarium grew to contain over 15000 specimens. In 1957 he transferred his collection to the National Herbarium in Melbourne.</abstract>
