<abstract>The Statistical Society of New South Wales was established in 1947 to further the study and application of statistical methods. In 1962 the Society joined with the Canberra Statistical Society to form the Statistical Society of Australia. The reformed Society continued to objects of its predecessors: to further the study, application and good practice of statistical theory and methods.</abstract>
<p>The Society's publications include:<br />
<span style="font-style:italic">Bulletin, Statistical Society of New South Wales</span> no.1 (March 1949) - no.22 (September 1958); continued by;<br />
<span style="font-style:italic">Australian journal of statistics</span> 0004-9581 vol. 1 (April 1959) - vol. 39(3) (December 1997) (which became the journal of the Statistical Society of Australia on its establishment in 1962).</p>
