<abstract>Yingjie Jay (Jay) Guo is a world leader in gigabit wireless technology. His early research and publications on WLAN antennas remains some of the most well-regarded and popular.

In 2005 Guo moved to Australia to become the Director of the Wireless Technologies Laboratory at the CSIRO Information and Communication (ICT) Centre, after 25 years working in the telecommunications industry in the United Kingdom. As Director he has overseen groundbreaking research in WLAN technology and established many new international business partnerships.

In 2008 he was appointed Leader of the 'CSIRO Broadband for Australia' program. While in this role he initiated the Australia-China ICT Summit in 2009.</abstract>
<p>Guo was awarded the following CSIRO medals:</p>
<p>2007 - CSIRO Chairman's Medal for Science and Engineering Excellence (with colleagues) as a member of the Gigabit Wireless Team for the developmentof the world's fastest and most spectrally efficient 6 gigabit per second wireless millimetre-wave communications link;</p>
<p>2012 - CSIRO Chairman's Medal for Science and Engineering Excellence (with Valeriy Dyadyuk and members of the Ngara Backhaul Project Team) or developing the world's fastest 10 gigabit per second microwave link for the National Broadband Network as well as for the wider telecommunications industry. This innovation has the potential to significantly improve broadband services in rural and regional Australia.</p>
