Paul Charles W. Davies is Adjunct Professor of Natural Philosophy at the Australian Centre for Astrobiology, Macquarie University; Visiting Professor of Physics at Imperial College London; and Adjunct Professor of Physics at the University of Queensland. Previously he worked at the universities of London, Newcastle upon Tyne and Adelaide. Throughout his career, Davies has researched the origin of the universe and life including the properties of black holes and the nature of time and quantum field theory. Apart from being a theoretical physicist, cosmologist, and astrobiologist, he is also a widely published author, national broadcaster and sort after lecturer: Davies has lectured widely internationally and has (co-) written over 400 research articles and at least twenty-seven books. He has also been a long time columnist for many newspapers and magazines including <span style="font-style:italic">Nature</span> and <span style="font-style:italic">The Economist</span>. Davies has written and presented numerous television and radio shows, including two series of science documentaries for the BBC. He is a Fellow of the UK Institute of Physics (FIP), Australian Institute of Physics (FAIP), World Economic Forum, Royal Literary Society, Indian Astronomical Society (Honorary) and of the Singapore Institute of Physics (Honorary) and a recipient of many awards, only a few of which are listed here.
