Victor Chang was one of the world's leading cardiac surgeons and is best known for his outstanding work in heart transplantation. Chang spent most of his career at St Vincent's hospital in Sydney and travelled widely across Asia to train local surgeons in cardiac surgery procedures. Victor Chang was murdered during a suspected burglary in 1991, but his legacy lives on at the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute which was established in 1994.
