He continued his relationship with the latter as Professorial Fellow and Professor Emeritus in the School of Mathematics and Statistics. He was solely responsible for introducing the still-new category theory to Australia, research on which found application in many areas of mathematics, theoretical physics, computer architecture, software design, and information management.
