He has published over 200 hundred scientific publications in the field, presented a multitude of invited lectures and talks and has been involved in over fifty scientific committees, societies and groups. Because of his phenomenal output and contribution to science, Farquhar has also received many, many honours and awards including fellowship to the Royal Society and the Australian Academy of Science, the P.L. Goldacre Award from the Australian Society of Plant Physiologists and the Leading Australian Citation Laureate for 2001. Farquhar was awarded the Prime Minister's Prize for Science in 2015 and the Kyoto Prize in 2017, and as a member of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change shared the Nobel Prize for Peace in 2007.
