Ashley Dunn was the Associate Director of the Melbourne Branch of the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research and a Professorial Fellow of the University of Melbourne until 2003. He was brought to the Ludwig in 1982 to establish a Molecular Biology Program and only two years later, Dunn and his collaborators had made the first clone of GM-CSF - a cytokine which is today given clinically to aid the recovery of bone marrow in cancer patients following chemotherapy treatment. Dunn has been involved in cancer research ever since and has served on many national and international committees and boards. He has also presented his research around the world and has authored over one hundred scientific publications. Since leaving the Ludwig in 2003, Dunn has gone into private practice, establishing the scientific consultancy firm AR Dunn & Associates Pty. Ltd.
