He was an editorial board member for several scientific journals and co-authored more than 250 works in the field of the nervous control of gut movements. Marcello Costa taught Medical students since 1975, established and coordinated most topics in the field of Neurosciences at Flinders University and was one of the founders of the Cognitive Sciences course. He was a Visiting Fellow and Professor at Universities and Research Institutions in Portland, Oregon, at Helsinki University (Finland), at University "la Sapienza" (Rome), at Menarini Foundation (Florence) and at University of Torino. Marcello Costa received many honours and recognitions and was committed to the public education of Neuroscience.
