<abstract>Gerard James Milburn is Professor of Physics and Federation Fellow at the University of Queensland and Deputy Director of the Centre for Quantum Computer Technology. Throughout his long career Milburn has developed an international reputation which has resulted in many invited lectures and conference presentations. His research interests are broad and include quantum optics, atom optics, laser physics and chaos in classical and quantum systems. Milburn has authored close to 200 referred articles and several books. He has also been heavily involved with many professional bodies and a few of his many contributions are listed in the chronology section.</abstract>
