 English AACR2 Anglo-American Cataloguing Rules Person created 2001-05-25 human Rosanne Walker updated 2025-11-05 human https://www.eoas.info/biogs/P004002b.htm person Throsby Nicholas Herbert AACR2 20 October 1845 28 April 1926 Business executive Pastoralist Nicholas Herbert Throsby, in about 1892, was one of the first people in Australia to use the rapid test for fat in dairy products, especially milk, developed by the American S.M. Babcock. Since then milk has largely been purchased by butter fat content. He was educated at King's School Parramatta and trained as engineer at Cheltenham College England. Initially Throsby worked with Great Indian Peninsula Railway, became Managing Director. He later joined the Berrima district Farm & Dairy Company in New South Wales and was a grazier Mt Ashby, Bong Bong district for a short time. He returned to Sydney in 1916.
