Throughout his illustrious career he has held numerous appointments, often consecutive, including Chairman of the Co-operative Research Centre for Greenhouse Accounting, President of the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering and was a member of the Prime Minister's Science and Engineering Council. In total, Sir Myers has been director or chairman of over twenty boards and foundations and president, councillor or member on at least another twelve occasions. He was the first person in Australia to receive a Doctor of Philosophy (University of Melbourne, 1948) and was appointed a Knight Commander of the Order of the British Empire (KBE) in 1981.
