His major area of interest is physical organic chemistry, in which he is exploring the nature of long-range orbital interactions and their relevance to molecular structure and reactivity, particularly to long-range electron transfer and energy transfer processes. These activities require the application of a wide range of techniques, including computational chemistry (mainly ab initio MO methods), organic synthesis and physico-chemico measurements (such as photoelectron spectroscopy and electron transmission spectroscopy).
