He is also the Director of the University's Special Research Centre for Offshore Foundation Systems. He has found expressions for the response of pile foundations to loading, worked out how soil flows around pipelines, analysed drag anchors and devised new designs for piled raft foundations. He has pioneered geotechnical centrifuge modelling in Australia.
