Metallurgist
Fleury James Lyster worked for Zinc Corporation in Broken Hill from May 1907, constructing a new mineral processing mill of which he was appointed foreman. He developed a process of selective flotation of zinc and in 1912 the Zinc Corporation was operating the first commercial selective flotation plant in the world, using his process. On his retirement as mill superintendent in 1935 the company established the annual James Lyster scholarship.
