He also supplied plants for the experiments of John Buhot. After a milling dispute in 1875 Hope dismantled the mill and sold it, returning to England in 1882. Ormiston House is now owned by the Carmelite Sisters and on the front lawn is a memorial to Hope, erected by the sugar interests in Queensland. 1843 1843 Life event - Migrated to Australia (colony of New South Wales) 1848 1848 Life event - Moved to Moreton Bay (later known as Queensland) 1853 1853 Career position - Bought land at Ormiston and Kilcoy Station (joint ownership) 1863 1863 Career position - Sole owner of Kilcoy Station 1865 Career position - Built a sugar mill and established the colony's sugar industry at Ormiston 1867 1867 Career position - Took up extra land at Hope Island, near the mouth of the Coomera River and at Kilcoy 1870 1870 Career position - Installed Pruche Aubry as a manager on Ormiston 1875 1875 Career position - Sold the Ormiston mill 1882 1882 Life event - Returned to England Australian Joint Copying Project, National Library of Australia; and State Library of New South Wales (1945 - 1993)
