<abstract>Barry Brady was in the team which conducted the gigantic blast at the Mount Isa Mine in 1975. Subsequently he was a lecturer in rock mechanics and mining engineering at Imperial College, London, professor at the University of Minnesota, USA, and Chief of CSIRO's Division of Geomechanics. He was a co-founder and Technical Director of Itasca Consulting Group, Minneapolis, and manager of the Applied Mechanics department of Schlumberger Dowell, USA. After serving as Professor of Mining Engineering at the University of Queensland, he was Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Computing and Mathematics at the University of Western Australia.</abstract>
<p>Educated at the University of Queensland (BSc, MSc), University of London, Imperial College (MSc(Eng) and PhD, Mining and Geo-Engineering). Fellow of the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering; Fellow of The Institution of Engineers, Australia; Fellow of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy; Chartered Professional Engineer, Australia; Chartered Professional Mining Engineer, Australia; and Member of the International Society for Rock Mechanics.</p>
