His research focuses on the systematics, life cycles, phylogeny and pathology of helminth, arthropod and protozoan parasites of native mammals. He developed new hypotheses on host-parasite specificity and co-evolution of Australian marsupials and their helminth parasites through the integration of taxonomic knowledge of the parasites and their hosts. Beveridge has also worked on cestode parasites of fish and the aetiology and control of footrot of domestic ruminants, particularly sheep. He was an Honorary curator at the South Australian Museum.
