<abstract>Doug Forder spent much of his war service teaching meteorology as Chief Instructor at the RAAF Meteorological Training School in Melbourne. His keen interest in his trainees and commonsense approach to teaching started many a forecaster on a career in meteorology. All of his trainees thought highly of him as a dedicated teacher of a subject he had taken up only during the war. <SMALL>(<span style="font-style:italic">Weather News</span>, No. 248 March 1980 #3121.)</SMALL></abstract>
<p>Born 9 September 1912. Died November 1979. Educated BA, BSc, Adelaide University. Teacher 1934. Squadron Leader and Chief Instructor in Meteorology, RAAF, 1940-1945. Headmaster of Waikerie, Clare and Port Lincoln High Schools and Whyalla Technical High School, 1948-1960. Headmaster, Westminster School, South Australia, 1960-1976. Retired 1976. His <span style="font-style:italic">Analysis and forecasting in the south-west Pacific area</span> (lecture notes for short period conversion courses) was published by the Bureau of Meteorology in 1946.</p>
