After the war he transferred from the Postmaster General's department to the Bureau of Meteorology in Sydney. After time in Brisbane and Melbourne he took up a position in Adelaide in 1938. He served in the RAAF Meteorological Service during the Second World War, was Regional Director, Bureau of Meteorology, Tasmania, and then Regional Director, South Australia, 1948-1952, retiring in 1952.
