Born Melbourne, 1955. Began painting professionally at 21. At one stage a keeper, Royal Melbourne Zoo, where he also painted identification plates for the animal cages. Produced 100 commissioned sketches for the RAOU Atlas and an identification brochure for an orange-bellied parrot survey. He paints birds in their most characteristic poses and in positions which show their most salient features. His work is well known within the Wildlife Arts Association of Australia. Illustrated Simpson and Day's Field Guide to the Birds of Australia, which is now in its sixth edition.
