Born Sydney, 21 December 1907. Died Melbourne, 1 October 1976. Accountant, Imperial Chemical industry of Australia and New Zealand, based in Sydney to 1950, Melbourne 1950 until retirement. Honorary ornithologist, National Museum of Victoria. Chairman, governing body, Wilson Promontory National Park. Council member, Royal Zoological Society of New South Wales; council member, Royal Australasian Ornithologists Union for 34 years, including president 1960-61, editor of The Emu 1960-62 and Victorian representative on the Committee dealing with the vernacular names of Australian birds; editor, Australian Bird Watcher (Melbourne Bird Observers' Club) 1959-76. Wrote Birds of a salt-field, describing 200 species of birds recorded from the ICI salt-fields, a sanctuary in South Australia, and Wilson's Promontory National Park and its Avifauna (1975). An excellent bird photographer.
