Later he branched out as an industrial chemist and assayer, working on separating gold from black sands, for which he patented a machine for separating gold from other metals, and the distillation of essential oils from Australian trees.

Born New South Wales, ca 1881. Died 15 May 1960. Colonial Sugar Refining Company, rising to Chief Chemist.
