<abstract>Frederick Matthews worked for Elliott Bros (later Elliotts and Australian Drug Co., then Drug Houses of Australia) 1907-1961. During World War II he won high praise from the medical profession and leading hospitals for the quality and quantity of ampoules and soluvacs which he devised and produced for use in blood transfusion equipment.</abstract>
<p>Born Glebe, New South Wales 1890. Died Chatswood, 14 July 1980. Educated Sydney Technical College (Diploma in Organic Chemistry). Elliott Bros (later Elliotts and Australian Drug Co., then Drug Houses of Australia) 1907-61, working at Balmain, then in O'Connell Street, Sydney and finally in his own laboratory at Rosebery.</p>
