<abstract>Joshua Marshall came to Australia in 1936 and operated his own business, manufacturing aromatic chemicals and perfumery products until 1953. In 1954 he was appointed patent examiner at the Patent Office, Canberra, and held this position at the time of his death.</abstract>
<p>Born Wilna, Lithuania, 10 February 1907. Died Canberra, 23 September 1964. Educated University of Toulouse (B.Chem. Eng. 1928). Perfumery chemist, Paris 1928-29, analyst of non-ferrous metals, Berlin 1929-30, Chief Chemist, Picardy Yeast Company 1930-36, own business manufacturing aromatic chemicals and perfumery products 1936-53, Herculoid company Pty Ltd, manufacturers of casein plastics 1953-54, patent examiner, Patent Office, Canberra 1954-64.</p>
