He played a considerable part in the chemical work in connection with the early establishment of standards for pure food supplies, especially in an extensive milk survey of the State. Before moving to Western Australia Malloch worked as a chemist with the British Ministry of Munitions (1916-1919) and in the Victorian Department of Health Laboratory.
