Wal Hollway went into private practice with Mr A. Redcliffe in c.1936. The firm specialised in oils and fuels. In 1940 Mr Redcliffe retired and, until the practice was absorbed in the practice of Sharp & Howells in 1967, it was conducted solely by Hollway. He was educated at the Ballarat School of Mines (Diploma of Applied Chemistry).
