<abstract>Harry Hey was involved with the Electrolytic Zinc Company 1917-1960, being chairman and Managing Director 1952-1960. During this time he established a research facility at the Company's Risdon (Tasmania) plant which gained an international reputation in zinc technology. Hey took a leading role in the Australian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy, serving two terms as President. He also chaired the Australian Explosives and Chemicals Industry Advisory Committee and was a member of the business advisory group of the Atomic Energy Commission.</abstract>
