<biogHist>
<abstract>Henry Walsh was engineer-in-chief for the Sydney Harbour Trust on its establishment in 1901 until his retirement in 1919, being commissioner of the trust from 1913. Previously he had been district engineer for public works programmes from Lake Macquarie to the Queensland border. He is commemorated by Walsh Island in Newcastle Harbour and Walsh Bay on Sydney's waterfront.</abstract>
