Allan Walker was a physician with a particular interest in pathology and neurology. He served in a medical capacity in World War I and II and edited the medical series of Australia's involvement in World War II from 1945-1956. When the Association of Physicians of Australasia became the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 1938, he was honorary secretary and helped to set up an administrative system which formed a model for other professional associations. Walker worked at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in New South Wales for nearly forty years. Some of his many other medical posts include a consultant physician to St George in Canterbury, to the Western Suburbs and Parramatta district hospitals and physician and director of the Queen Victoria Homes for Consumptives.
