He worked for the Explosives Factory, Maribyrnong and its predecessor, the Government Cordite Factory, from 1917-1946 and was later Chief Safety Officer and Secretary of the Operational Safety Committee, Department of Supply and Development from 1947-1950.

Born 9 September 1885. Died 26 September 1966. Educated University of Melbourne (BSc 1912, MSc 1914). Science master, Dookie Agricultural College, physicist, Shackleton Expedition 1915-17, Government Cordite Factory 1917-20, Explosives Factory (formerly Government Cordite Factory) 1920-44, serving in various capacities leading to his appointment as a Senior Assistant Manager during World War II. Australian Munitions Representative, UK 1944-46, Secretary, Operational Safety Committee and Explosives Committee, Ministry of Munitions 1946-47, Chief Safety Officer and Secretary, Operational Safety Committee, Department of Supply and Development 1947-50.
