<abstract>Clive Harris joined the staff of the Sydney Technical College (later the University of New South Wales) in 1949 and remained there until his death, ending his career as an associate professor of chemistry. He was recognised internationally as an authority on the chemistry of the platinum and coinage metals.</abstract>
