<biogHist>
<abstract>George Pritchard was Head of the School of Mines at the Working Men's College (Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology) from 1897 to 1934. He also lectured at the University of Melbourne and at Gordon Technical College in Geelong. After Pritchard retired he taught at two Melbourne secondary schools and worked as a private geological consultant for oil searches in Victoria, South Australia and Western Australia. He published largely in the area of tertiary stratigraphy and mollusc palaeontology.</abstract>
