<abstract>Isaac Aaron was a medical practitioner and sanitarian, who migrated to Australia from England in 1838. He was a keen editor who worked on and later owned the short-lived "Australian Medical Journal" (Sydney). He was also one of the founders and editors of the "New South Wales Medical Gazette". Isaac Aaron was a key instigator in reviving the Australian Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Science, Commerce and Agriculture as the Philosophical Society of New South Wales.</abstract>
