<abstract>John Bailey was Chairman of Directors and organiser of the Central Australia Gold Exploration Co. in the 1930s.</abstract>
<p>Born Manus Creek, New South Wales, 14 June 1871. Died Stanmore, Sydney, 26 October 1947. Shearer; organiser for the Australian Workers' Union from 1901, member for Goulburn, New South Wales Legislative Assembly 1920-25; investigated by the Australian Labor Party for the alleged use of sliding-panel ballot-boxes at the 1923 State A.L.P. conference and expelled from the party; reinstated 1929; vice-president, New South Wales federal branch of the Labor Party 1931-34; gold prospector 1930s; honorary chairman from 1930 of the Central Australia Gold Exploration Co., which financed an expedition to find L.H.B. Lasseter's lost reef.</p>
