<abstract>David Archer took up land with his brothers in the Morton District of Queensland in 1841 and in subsequent years explored the land to the west. In 1836 Archer had taken C. Darwin on an unsuccessful hunt for kangaroos at Wallerawang. He left Australia in 1852.</abstract>
<p>Born Scotland (?), 1816. Died 1900. Arrived Sydney 1834. Worked for his Walker cousins, became joint superintendent, took Charles Darwin on an unsuccessful hunt for kangaroos at Wallerawang 1836, took up Durundur in the Moreton district 1841 (Ludwig Leichhardt stayed there for some months 1843-44), took up runs farther west at Emu Creek and Cooyar 1845, took up land on the Burnett River at Coonambula and Eidsvold 1848, left Australia 1852.</p>
