<abstract>Fritz Reuter was Associate Professor of Food Technology, School of Chemical Engineering, University of New South Wales 1952-1970. He taught a number of Colombo plan students and continued education assistance to developing countries after his retirement, often with tenures as a visiting professor. Reuter was also a strong supporter of uniform food regulations and played a significant role in their adoption in New Zealand and Australia.</abstract>
<p>Born Vienna, 19 September 1905. Died 26 March 2001. Educated Munich and Berlin (PhD in biochemistry). Carnegie Research Fellowship, University of Sydney 1936-37; head, Organic Chemistry Department, Sydney Technical College 1938-52; associate professor and foundation head, Department of Food Technology, New South Wales University of Technology (later University of New South Wales) 1952-70. Chairman, Food Standards Standing Committee, National Health and Medical Research Council for 20 years; Editor, <span style="font-style:italic">Food Technology in Australia</span> for 30 years; Australia Award, US Institute of Food Technologists 1962; International Award, Institute of Food Technologists 1971; Fellow, Royal Institute of Chemistry, Royal Australian Chemical Institute and Australian Institute of Food Science and Technology.</p>
