John Llewellyn-Jones OBE MB Bch BAO MAO FCROG, was Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, University of Sydney from 1965. Earlier he was Senior Consultant Gynaecologist for the Federation of Malaya 1953-1965. He wrote the major textbook <span style="font-style:italic">Fundamentals of Obstetrics and Gynaecology</span> (1969, 9th ed 2010), that was adopted by medical schools worldwide and changed practices by "treating women as women, not as disorders of gynaecological plumbing". He also wrote medical books for the public, and in particular <span style="font-style:italic">Everywoman</span> (1971, 10th ed 2015) that sold more than 2 million copies worldwide. It was translated into many languages, and educated women about their bodies, helped them find their own voices on health issues, and helped change medical practices. He also wrote the complementary book <span style="font-style:italic">Everyman</span> (1981).
