<abstract>Frank Spry was a stonemason and contractor's foreman, working in sewerage works round Melbourne. For 26 years from 1894 he was Assistant at the National Museum of Victoria. Becoming Entomologist in 1920. With E. Anderson he wrote <span style="font-style:italic">Victorian butterflies and how to collect them</span> (1893). Spry found many fossils around the Yarra River, including Bather's new crinoid and <span style="font-style:italic">Gregoriura spyri</span> (brittle-star).</abstract>
