<biogHist>
<abstract>Frederick Skuse studied at the British Museum of Natural History and migrated to Australia in search of work. After a stint lecturing at the Sydney School of the Arts, he eventually found work at the Australian Museum. There he was employed for three years on the Australian Diptera (flies) collection and in 1890 was promoted to Scientific Assistant in the Entomological Department. He published extensively in the <span style="font-style:italic">Proceedings of the Linnean Society of New South Wales</span> and in the <span style="font-style:italic">Records of the Australian Museum</span></abstract>
